Every Minute Matters
Since becoming one of the state's first Trauma Centers in 1972, the number of patients treated in Sherman's emergency department has grown substantially.
Today the emergency department at Sherman Hospital treats over 40,000 people a year. And we've been the area resource hospital for the training of nearly 300 paramedics for over 25 years. This means we are responsible for emergency patients before they arrive at any area hospital through 24-hour communications that networks with paramedics and emergency transports.
Our emergency staff includes board-certified physicians specially trained in emergency medicine and certified trauma nurse specialists. Our Emergency Department is also certified as an Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP).
As a major trauma and cardiac center we have the technology and medical expertise to act quickly and effectively 24 hours a day, every day. And we're supported by the diagnostic and treatment capabilities of the entire hospital.
