Sherman Website Named One of Nation’s “Best Overall” in 2010
Sherman Health was recently recognized in the Eighth Annual Best-In-Class Website Award Competition, sponsored by Greystone.Net and StayWell Custom Communications. Up against some of the top-rated academic medical centers in the country, Sherman received a number of awards, including the Bronze Award for the 2010 Best Overall Website. The highest honor, this award recognizes the top three websites that embody the strategic vision of the organization, exceed the expectations of visitors to the site, and are among the hospital and healthcare system leaders in terms of innovation, design, content, and functionality.
“We are thrilled to have our Web efforts recognized, especially among so many incredible healthcare institutions,” says Josh McColough, Marketing Manager, Sherman Health.
Along with the Bronze Award for Best Overall Website, Sherman received the following awards:
- Gold Category: Best Marketing Use of Health Content This award was given to Sherman Health for its “Ask the Cardiologist” blog series, featuring posts by Maciej Malinski, MD, Cardiologist on the Medical Staff at Sherman Health. For the past year, Dr. Malinski has faithfully answered readers’ questions about working toward and maintaining a healthy heart.
- Silver Category: Innovator’s Award This award was given to Sherman Health for its Geothermal Lake QR Code Campaign. Table Toppers featured QR Codes, which allowed visitors to use smart phones to take a photo of a code and be directed to a web page with details about the lake.
- Bronze Category: Best Use of Mobile Strategy This award was given to Sherman Health for its fully functional mobile website, featuring pages such as Locations, Physician Finder, Send an eCard, Contact Us, Follow Us, Hospital Floorplan and more. Sherman is one of the very few hospitals to have a mobile-friendly version of its website.
Award Winners were announced on November 15 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, NV. These awards, presented in 12 categories, illustrate outstanding work, demonstrated results, and represent the finest in hospital and healthcare website design, content, functionality, and strategic thinking.
In this year’s competition, Greystone and StayWell provided all of their clients with an opportunity to submit entries in a series of Web categories. Each entrant was asked to provide examples and written descriptions of why their organizations should be considered for the award. Entries were reviewed by a panel, were narrowed to a list of finalists, and an online ballot was created. This year there were nearly 140 entries, 50-plus finalists, and 1,500 votes.
