Sherman Health is excited to announce results from its 2010 Physician Partnership survey conducted by Press Ganey, the healthcare industry leader in satisfaction measurement and improvement. For the fourth consecutive year, physicians on the medical staff rated overall physician satisfaction at Sherman Health in the top 10 percent of hospitals in the nation. With an overall mean score of 82.6, Sherman was placed in the 92nd percentile rank.

Sherman’s survey results were compared to 354 like-sized hospitals throughout the nation and over 53,000 physicians in the Press Ganey database. While Sherman ranked 92nd nationally amongst all hospitals, it ranked in the 95th percentile when compared to peer group hospitals.

Key highlights from this year’s survey include:

• A record 214 Sherman Medical Staff completed the survey
• No question scored lower than 50 percent
• The overall mean score increased by 1.8 points over 2009
• Greatest increases seen in ease of scheduling tests and admissions, quality of nursing staff, and overall quality of care

Sherman surveys its medical staff every year to gauge their opinions of hospital quality and efficiency, and to spotlight areas of improvement. In turn, Sherman can address the issues and opportunities suggested and provide a better place for physicians to practice medicine.

Sherman jumped from the 51st percentile for physician satisfaction in 2006 to the 93rd in 2007 and 2008, and the 92nd in 2009 and 2010. Based on previous survey results, Sherman increased efforts this past year aligning physician and hospital interests and asking for more physician input with hospital planning and decisions.
