Sherman Health to Test New Hospital with Mock Patients, Scenarios
By Luke | November 11, 2009
On Thursday, November 12, we will test our new hospital, staff and processes during a “Day in the Life” exercise that will feature Board members, community members and nursing students as mock patients.
The day-long exercise is a crucial “run-through” of key scenarios that will occur during a typical day at the new hospital, including 38 inpatient and outpatient care scenarios from a simulated multiple trauma and robotic hysterectomy to an emergency room OB delivery.
The purpose of the exercise is to help orient the staff to the new facility, evaluate understanding of flow and function in the new building, and test staff’s ability to effectively work in the new facility with new operations prior to the opening of the hospital on December 15.
All scenarios will feature a mock patient, mock family member, a clinical team, and Sherman Health leaders to help direct and evaluate the process. More than 100 Sherman Health employees and 40 mock patients are participating.
We will be live-tweeting during the entire morning on Thursday, so head to Sherman’s Twitter page to follow along with us.
Also, watch for a blog post next week chronicling the experience of being a “multiple trauma” scenario patient.
