Sherman Cancer Program Receives Accreditation by American College of Surgeons
Sherman Hospital’s Cancer Program recently received three year accreditation with commendation by the Commission on Cancer (CoC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons.
Accreditation is earned by centers that voluntarily commit to provide the highest level of cancer care and undergo a rigorous evaluation process and performance review of leadership, data management, clinical services, research, community outreach and quality improvement.
CoC accredited programs ensure that patients have access to the following:
- Comprehensive care, including a range of state-of-the-art services and equipment
- A multidisciplinary team approach to coordinate the best treatment options
- Information about ongoing clinical trials and new treatment options
- Access to cancer-related information, education and support
- A cancer registry that collects data on type and stages of cancers and treatment results
- Lifelong patient follow-up
- Ongoing monitoring and improvement of care
- Quality care close to home
Not only does the accreditation highlight the quality care provided to patients, but it also means we’re fully committed at Sherman Health to providing patients with the latest treatment and support services.
