Sherman Health is pleased to announce that Richard B. Floyd, president & CEO, Sherman Health, has been elected to the Illinois Hospital Association’s (IHA) Board of Trustees as a regional trustee. Floyd will begin serving a three-year term on the IHA Board on Jan. 1, 2012.

“I am honored to have been elected as a regional trustee to the Illinois Hospital Association Board,” says Floyd. “This organization plays a significant role in allowing healthcare organizations in Illinois, including Sherman Health, to provide outstanding healthcare and service to the communities we serve.”

Floyd has served as the President & CEO at Sherman Health since 2001. Prior to his tenure at Sherman, he served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Parma Community General Hospital in Parma, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland, and Vice-President for the New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated cum laude from Harvard College and earned his MBA from the Yale School of Management. Additionally he is a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives. Floyd is also involved in various community organizations and speaks Spanish.

The IHA Board of Trustees is the Association’s policymaking body. The Board is made up of 32 trustees, including 14 at-large trustees elected by the voting members of the Association, nine regional trustees elected directly by the regions, six elected officers (chairman, chairman-elect, immediate past chairman, immediate past, past chairman, treasurer, and secretary), and the Association’s president ex officio. Constituency sections, councils and ad hoc task forces provide members with opportunities to participate in the Association’s policy development process.
