Interview with Bonnie Houck, 1st Patient at the New Hospital

By Luke | December 23, 2009

IMG_1467-Edit-2Bonnie Houck was the first patient moved into the new Sherman Hospital from the Center Street campus. We got the chance to speak with Bonnie after she had gotten settled into her bright and spacious new room. She was eager to talk about what her day had entailed.

Q: How’s your day going so far, Bonnie?

A: It’s been very busy. I got up really early this morning. Things went very smoothly once they got me ready and wheeled me out. I moved from room to room in less than one hour. I was amazed at how quickly things went.

Q: What are you visiting Sherman for?

A: I’m here for a hip replacement. I’ve had all kinds of complications and infections. Once those heal, I’m going in for another hip replacement.

Q: What do you think of the new room?

A: It’s not only bigger, but it’s much brighter! You just feel better seeing the sunshine. There’s much more space, as well.

Q: How have you been treated during your stay?

A: The nurses have treated me very well! They’ve been extremely pleasant throughout my stay and they work well together. I figured I’d encounter some problems during today’s transition, but everything worked so well. I just hope it goes as smoothly for everyone else.
