Sherman to Host 2nd Annual Family Health and Safety Fair
South Elgin, IL − Sherman Health will host its second annual Family Health and Safety Fair on Saturday, August 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sherman Family HealthCare immediate care center in South Elgin, 2000 McDonald Road. A fun-filled event for the entire family, the “Go Green with Sherman−Family Health and Safety Fair” will feature free health screenings, safety information, a car seat safety clinic, a moonwalk, face-painting and more.
At the Sherman Teddy Bear Clinic, nurses will give treatment to stuffed animals brought by attendees. During the car seat safety check, parents can have car seats checked in their own vehicles and receive hands-on instruction from a certified child passenger safety technician.
Sherman representatives will also be on hand to educate the community on green initiatives, including the 15-acre geothermal lake at the new Sherman Hospital campus, located at Randall and Big Timber roads in Elgin. The only one of its kind at a medical facility in Illinois, the lake will help heat and cool the new hospital, saving an estimated $1 million per year in energy costs. During the event, Sherman will also “go green” by providing all food items on recyclable materials, distributing “green” giveaway items, and more.
