Sherman Health to Host Heart and Diabetes Fair, February 14
In celebration of American Heart Month, Sherman Health will host a Heart and Diabetes Fair on Saturday, February 14, from 9 a.m. to noon at Sherman Hospital, 934 Center Street in Elgin.
“This year, we are hosting our annual heart fair in conjunction with a diabetes fair for the first time,” says Tina Link, community outreach manager, Sherman Health. “People with diabetes are two to four times more likely than others to develop heart disease. We feel it is important to educate the community on both heart health and diabetes.”
The Heart and Diabetes Fair will offer attendees free heart and diabetes information from Sherman Health and vendors, free blood pressure and glucose screenings, $10 cholesterol screenings (requires an eight to 12 hour fast), and more. Attendees will also receive information on the new Sherman Hospital, scheduled to open on December 15, 2009.
