Community Welcome to an Unveiling of Sherman Hospital History

Elgin, Ill. - Sherman Health is pleased to welcome members of the community to take part in an unveiling of Sherman Hospital History from 9 to 10am, Thursday, July 19 at the Sherman Health Center Street Campus, 901 Center Street.

During this special event, Sherman Health officials will unveil historical Sherman Hospital items located in time capsules from 1950, 1957 and 1963 on the original hospital campus. Items include lists of hospital employees, hospital supplies, newsletters and newspaper clippings and more. Remarks will be given at 9:15am by Sherman President and CEO Rick Floyd, Systems Board Chairman Rick Jakle and Elgin historian Jerry Turnquist, followed by a Dictaphone message from former Sherman administrator Harold W. Solomon, who served from 1959 to 1979. Light refreshments will be served.

About the Center Street Redevelopment Project
In July 2011, Sherman Health leased space to Greater Elgin Family Care Center to provide the community expanded walk-in care services at our 901 Center Street campus. These services, along with Sherman's Sleep Lab, Home Care, Corporate Services, Property & Project Management, Sherman Choice, SCORE, Elgin Center Pharmacy and offices for seven physicians groups, are housed within the John A. Graham Building and the medical office buildings.
